I read this book before I read the Sweet Potato Queen's first book by her sister. Enjoyed both, but Judy's book has it hands down in my estimation. I had to put this line in here because of some of the other reviews I have read. Also, these two gals are so close it is probably hard to tell where the real derivation of the material comes from. At any rate, regarding Southern Fried Divorce, I have read it 3 or 4 times already. There is so much humor here but also so much bittersweet truth. I laughed out loud (snorting was happening here) but I also shed a few real tears as well. This was one of my favorite books in a long time. It is such a quick read, but try to read it slowly. You don't want to miss a word.
HONK if your ex-husband is as bad as mine--but you've managed to keep your sense of humor about him! Love this book--clearly, that ex was a hound but rather than retreating in bitterness, Conner embraces his badness--from a safe distance--and finds the humor that is the saving grace for all of us of the human persuasion. And, good eats never hurts any either!
If you want to read a RAMBLING story with practically no plot and worn out analogies and jokes, this is your book. If you like old recipes with no flavor, try some of these. If you are obsessed with how to divorce your husband but still sleep with him occasionally and get as much ALIMONY as absolutely possible, here is your instruction manual. If you like good Southern stories - fact or fiction, try something else.
Listened to audio book and laughed so much my sides hurt. Being from Jackson and NOLA I get it and really do appreciate her observations. Must read or do yourself a favor and listen.
This is a good accounting of the Southern civility and humor we can all achieve. Thank you, Judy Conner! I look forward to the next book.

I bought this particular book because the author is a sister to Jill Conner Browne of the Sweet Potato Queen series. It was slightly amusing, in my view, but not as funny as her sister. You would need to be your own judge on this one.
