It was a normal day in the little town of Hostrule, Tennessee. That is, until the 233 souls that populated the town suddenly vanished. An old Harley kissed a telephone pole hard, but there was no blood spat about, nor was a body found at the scene. At the same moment, a few telephone conversations ended abruptly in mid sentence. Water was left running in some houses, as a deserted chicken continued frying at the old Jefferson Café. No one remained to care for such things. It was Hostrule’s personal Armageddon.
The state sent in its Homeland Security team. The CDC decided to take a look. Even the good Senator John Davidson flew to Tennessee, at the behest of the President. What they found in the dark shadows of the little town was more frightening than anyone could have imagined. But what they found in a small jail cell? Well, my God! It could only be science fiction, right?
Only one of them would learn they had discovered the launching point for the end of the human race. However, that would need to be kept secret. It’s better not to know there’s another race living among us, watching our every move.
Warning The first few pages of this book are extremely dark, if not disturbing. Even more disturbing, it’s loosely based on true events.

As a die hard Stephen King fan I am always leery of new horror but this book is just amazing. Yes the first few pages are dark but once you start reading, you will be hooked. I am only halfway done and have to force myself to put the book down to go to bed. Everything about this book is spot on from the characters to the little town of Hostrule, the author takes you there and does not let you go. The plot is unique but also incredibly believable. Whether you buy this or get it for free, this is truly a keeper. While I cannot wait to finish, it is one of the books where I really wish it would just go on.Product details

I really liked this book and I am looking forward to the next in the series. One of my biggest complaints of all authors is that the end of the book, whether it is a single novel or one in a series, always seems to be rushed. I am happy to say I didn't think that was the case here.
I actually found the beginning of this book okay, but I quickly lost interest when we got to 'present day'. Maybe I'm quitting just before it gets good, but I'm thoroughly bored. At about 1/3 of the way into this, the story is just Not There for me.
